Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. A group of juvenile Lake Sturgeon will be released into the Tennessee River today (Oct. 7) at 11:00 a.m. Over 600 fish are being released by a group of Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute scientists and students. Lake Sturgeon are considered a "living fossil" because of their largely unchanged existence since the Cretaceous Period. (WATE)
  2. A developer is proposing a project that would construct 136 townhouses in Chattanooga's downtown. The project would be downtown Chattanooga's largest-ever townhouse project. The townhouses would be constructed at the site of an existing parking lot owned by the insurance company Unum and would likely start at $350,000. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  3. A local veterinarian warns that Canine Influenza is on the rise in Chattanooga. According to Dr. Jim Hammon, the area usually sees about three dogs with dog flu each month — but there are about five to six a week at this point. Dr. Hammon is advising pet owners to avoid dog parks at this time. (WDEF)
