🌱 Low-Cost Chattanooga Dental Center + Hunter Museum Turns 70

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Chattanooga.

Get on up, Chattanooga! Let's get you started this Wednesday with everything you need to know going on in Chattanooga today.

First, today's weather:

Occasional afternoon rain. High: 54 Low: 42.

Here are the top 3 stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. A low-cost community dental center will open in Chattanooga. Revive Dental cares for uninsured and underserved patients, and it is staffed by local dentists who volunteer to serve others. The prices are kept low, typically one-third to one-half of typical dental fees. (The Chattanoogan)
  2. The Hunter Museum is celebrating 70 years with a yearlong focus on collecting. They will kick off with a theme of "Beyond the Frame: Celebrating 70 Years of Collection," which is an exhibition that showcases a wide range of Hunter's American art collection spanning the 1700s to today. (Chattanooga Pulse)
  3. Volunteers are needed for a local nonprofit's "Dinner Club" to feed terminally ill patients. Volunteers have been providing dinner for residents living at Welcome Home of Chattanooga almost every night. Some drop off dinner or have it delivered, due to the pandemic; however, kt began with volunteers and patients sitting around the table together and eating dinner in each other's company. From my notebook:

  • A program was created to help support the mission of more than 500 volunteer fire departments across Tennessee. It will provide $1 million in grants to help them purchase new equipment. (Facebook)
  • Chattanooga Police Department is incredibly proud to announce that its own Alisa Leduc has received the prestigious Certified Law Enforcement Analyst (CLEA) certification from the International Association of Crime Analysts. Alisa joins Jessica Elsmore of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office as the second (and only two) Crime Analysts in the State of Tennessee to earn such an exclusive distinction. (Facebook)
  • Australia's not all vicious and violent beasties. Biodiversity means there's room for small and cute creatures of all kinds. See just what the Top End of the Land Down Under has to offer in Australia's Great Wild North 3D at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater. (Facebook)
