🌱 McKamey Center Rescues 'Terrified' Dog + Help For The Homeless

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Chattanooga.

Get on up, Chattanooga! Here's everything you need to know to get this Thursday started off right. Here's what's going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

An afternoon t-storm or two. High: 66 Low: 44.

Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. On Monday, a stray dog was found in Chattanooga with tape around her mouth and a twine rope around her neck. The woman who found the dog reported it to the McKamey Animal Center, whose officers "rescued this terrified, small, mixed-breed dog" to remove the tape and check for other injuries. McKamey is offering a $500 reward for anyone with information about the case and the people who may be responsible. (WTVC)
  2. Looking to celebrate Black History Month in Chattanooga? Head to Songbirds Guitar & Pop Culture Museum for two exhibits highlighting African-American musicians, as well as the city's music history and role in shaping these artists. Songbirds Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday; adult tickets are $15. (WDEF News 12)
  3. Chattanooga will receive $2.9 million in federal American Rescue Plan funding — more than four times the usual amount received each year — to address homelessness and affordable housing in the city. The City plans to use this money on three main priorities: developing and supporting affordable housing, offering tenant-based rental assistance, increasing local service providers. 15% of the funds will be used for administration, as mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
