Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:
- Hamilton County Schools has fined its school bus contractor, First Student. The fine totaled almost $480,000 for not servicing the contracted route with the contracted bus. First Student is the only company that the school district has contracted with for school buses. The district does use some independent contractors for some routes. (WTVC)
- Scenic City Wings is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Chattanooga Market. The wing competition will be held at First Horizon Pavilion from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Ticket sales will be used to benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. There will be five local restaurants competing this year. Tickets can be purchased at the event. (Chattanooga Pulse)
- One Chattanooga resident has been displaced due to an apartment fire. The incident occurred at the College Hill Courts around 7:30 p.m. Initial reports indicate that the fire was started at a mattress and quickly spread to the apartment's curtains. The displaced resident is being assisted by the American Red Cross. (WTVC)
