Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:
- The Chattanooga Police Department has arrested a woman for allegedly shooting a man while he was sleeping. The incident occurred on Thursday in the 7700 block of Basswood Drive. Audrey Johnson, 61, has been charged with attempted criminal homicide. (WTVC)
- The Chattanooga Area Food Bank reports it is experiencing significantly higher demand recently. According to the organization, they are encountering 150 families a day in need of food assistance. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization only experienced 50 families on average. (WTVC)
- It's time to grab your calendar because Chattanooga has plenty of events occurring this Memorial Day Weekend. Most notably, the Chattanooga Beer Festival is on Saturday at First Horizon Pavilion, the Chattanooga Market will be hosting its Street Food Festival on Sunday at First Horizon Pavilion, and MainStreet Cruise-In will be exhibiting unique cars on Saturday at the Bradley County Courthouse square.
