Ammonia Leak Evacuates Goodlettsville Tyson Plant
Two workers were hospitalized after an ammonia leak was discovered during a shift change at a Tyson Foods plant.
GOODLETTSVILLE, TN — An ammonia leak forced more than 100 workers to evacuate the Goodlettsville Tyson Foods plant early Thursday morning. Hazmat crews contained the leak, which was discovered during a shift change, within 90 minutes.
It's unclear what caused the leak, which was reported at 5:30 a.m.

Ammonia is used for cooling and refrigeration at the plant. Six people were evaluated on the scene by first responders and two of those were taken to the hospital, though their conditions were described as "noncritical."
First-shift workers as well as the maintenance and custodial personnel who were inside at the time of the leak were held in a nearby parking lot while the facility aired out. Operations resumed around 8:30 a.m.
