East Nashville Fire Critically Injures 1

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — A man has been hospitalized after trying to extinguish an early-morning fire at an East Nashville home.

Nashville Fire crews were called to Lemuel Road near Dickerson Pike around 3:30 Sunday morning. By the time firefighters were on the scene, five people had escaped the home safely. One resident, however, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition with smoke inhalation.

Firefighters told WKRN he tried to put out the fire himself.

The cause of the fire is a under investigation and the home is considered a total loss.
