East Nashville Sidewalk Shooting: Police Seek Shooter in Bold Midday Murder

A 39-year-old man was shot and killed at lunch time on a sidewalk in East Nashville.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — A man shot on an East Nashville sidewalk just before noon Monday later died at the hospital.

Investigators say John Moss, 39, was shot in the chest on Marina Street near Ninth Street, less than a quarter mile from Ross Elementary School, around 11:45 a.m. Monday. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Police believe the shooting may have been drug-related. Officers said a small bag of what appeared to be crack cocaine was found on the front seat of Moss’ vehicle, behind which he was shot.

Witnesses told detectives the shooter fled in a late model silver Chevrolet Impala.
