Ellington Parkway Crash Leaves One Dead
An 87-year-old woman driving the wrong way was killed in a head-on crash.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — One person is dead after a two-car crash on Ellington Parkway.
The wreck took place about 11:30 a.m. around mile marker 12 near the Douglas Avenue exit, shutting down all northbound lanes of Ellington for a few hours.
Police say Doris Vanmoerkerke, 87, entered Ellington somewhere around Briarville Road and was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes.

Vanmoerkerke eventually hit a vehicle driven by Melton Fields, 47, head-on. Vanmoerkerke was pronounced dead on the scene. Fields was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
