Hermitage Gas Station Stick-Up Prompts Pursuit

The getaway vehicle was carjacked and used to flee another robbery, police believe.

HERMITAGE, TN — Suspects in an armed robbery of a Hermitage gas station led police on a chase of more than 15 miles early Monday morning.

The cashier at the Delta Express on Old Hickory Boulevard near Central Pike said an armed and masked man came into the store around 12:30 a.m. and demanded money. He then hopped in the passenger seat of a gold Jeep Grand Cherokee and fled.

A nearby Metro Police officer spotted the SUV and tried to pull it over, but the Jeep persisted, eventually leading police on a winding chase down Dickerson Pike, Ellington Parkway and Broadmoor Drive, more than 15 miles from the Delta Express.

Officers in pursuit believe they saw someone throw something from the window of the Jeep. Nothing was discovered and shortly after, police cut off the chase.

Investigators believe the Jeep was taken during a Friday night carjacking in Midtown and had been used as the getaway car in an earlier robbery Sunday.
