Hermitage Robber Decides Cash and Cigarettes Aren't Enough, Steals Charity Jar Too

A masked man held-up a Hermitage Mapco and took a donation jar as he fled.

HERMITAGE, TN — A masked armed robber made off with cash, cigarettes and a jar full of donations for a children's charity in a early Monday stick-up.

A man wearing a black scarf over his face and a black hooded sweatshirt walked into the Mapco at Old Hickory Boulevard and Andrew Jackson Parkway, aimed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash and cigarettes. The clerk complied, handing over a small amount of cash and several packs of cigarettes. The cash and free smokes were, apparently, not enough for the man, who then took the jar by the register collecting donations for a local children's charity.

K-9 officers were unable to track the suspect because the always-open Mapco is so heavily trafficked.
