High Schoolers Arrested for Passing Fake $20: Report

The Secret Service is investigating the pair, searching for more bogus cash.

NASHVILLE, TN — The U.S. Secret Service has arrested two students at a local high school for passing counterfeit money, according to a media report.

The McGavock High School students, a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, were arrested at the school and charged with criminal simulation, News Channel 5 reported Thursday. They have been accused of passing at least one counterfeit $20 bill at their school.

The Secret Service is investigating the students, and they may face federal charges as well as disciplinary charges from their school, News Channel 5 reported. The Secret Service also is looking at whether others were involved and whether the two teens passed along more counterfeit bills.

Police officers say that anyone who has spotted a counterfeit bill should keep it and report it.
