Legally Blind Man Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident: Police

He's recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, say Metro Nashville Police.

NASHVILLE, TN — The police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a legally blind man Monday night as he was crossing a street, and then drove away.

The accident victim, David A. Lloyd, 55, was in critical but stable condition Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he's being treated for his injuries, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. The hit-and-run collision occurred at the intersection of McGavock Pike and Lebanon Pike.

The police said that Lloyd was crossing McGavock Pike from west to east outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by the unidentified vehicle, which fled the scene. No witnesses to the collision were located.

"The vehicle is presumed to be black, based on a large black driver’s side mirror being found at the crash site," the police said in a statement. The vehicle's make and model has not been confirmed.
