Nashville Police Arrest Woman, Seek Man In Death of Woman Found In Neely's Bend Ditch

Mary Young and Maurice Boyd face murder and evidence tampering charges in the death of Jamie Kopulous.

MADISON, TN — Metro police have made one arrest in connection with the death of a woman found in a ditch in Neely's Bend Monday, but investigators are still seeking at least one other person.

Mary Young, 35, is charged with homicide and evidence tampering and is being held on a $400,000 bond. She told police she was in a hotel room Aug. 16 with Jamie Kopulous, whose body was found by dogwalkers in a ditch on Hudson Road, when Kopulous passed out after mixing Xanax and heroin.

Young says she and Maurice Boyd, 41, panicked and put the still-breathing Kopulous in a plastic tote and dumped her body in the ditch. Young says Kopulous was still alive when she and Boyd left the area.

Police are still looking for Boyd, who will also face homicide and evidence tampering charges.

Detectives had been working to build a timeline of Kopulous' last day She was seen leaving work at the Myatt Drive Steak & Shake with two men. One of those men came forward, which led police to a nearby gas station, where Kopulous was seen on security-camera footage with another man.
