Nashville Police Seek Suspects In Shooting Outside East Nashville Community Center

Two teenagers were shot near the McFerrin Community Center Monday afternoon.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police are searching for two suspects in a shooting near the McFerrin Park Community Center that left two teenagers injured Monday afternoon.

Two 17-year-olds were shot — one in the foot, the other in the leg — around 4:30 p.m. Monday. They were taken to the hospital but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Roughly 20 children were inside the community center for an after school program, but they were evacuated safely in accordance with an emergency action plan, according to Metro Parks.

Police are searching for two males. One was wearing a white hoodie and the other a red hoodie. They were seen in a small white car, possibly a Honda or Toyota, heading towards Dickerson Pike.

The community center was closed Tuesday for repairs. It will reopen Wednesday from noon to 6:30 p.m. and will keep those hours for the rest of the week. Family and Children Services will be at the community center Wednesday to to provide counseling to children, patrons and staff.
