Police: Suspected Fugitive Shot and Killed After Pulling Gun on Officer
The suspected gunman was pronounced dead at the hospital after he was shot by a Metro officer at Dickerson Pike and Donald Street.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police say a suspected fugitive is dead after being shot by an officer Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say Sandy Joe Duke, 43, pulled a gun on the officer, who has not been identified, near the intersection of Dickerson Pike and Donald Street in Talbot's Corner just before 2:30 p.m..
No officers were injured.

Duke was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to Metro police spokesman Don Aaron, a stolen vehicle driven by Duke was found at the intersection.

Duke has an extensive criminal history dating back more than 25 years, with numerous arrests and convictions for assault, burglary and kidnapping.
