Police: Officer Shoots Armed Suspect In Stomach In Madison
The officer is on leave and the suspect is in custody after an early-morning gunfight in Madison.

MADISON, TN — A suspect is hospitalized after Metro Police's second officer-involved shooting of 2016.
Police were investigating a separate shooting in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, when one of the officers spotted a man believed to be involved near Fire Station 31 at 415 Douglas Street in Madison. The suspect allegedly raised his gun and was then shot in the stomach by the officer.
The suspect, who was not carrying identification, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A further investigation found bulletholes in the side of a nearby unmarked police cruiser.
The officer who fired the shots has not been identified and is on administrative leave during the investigation.
