Police: Man Threatened Kids, Cops With Screwdriver at East Nashville Bus Stop
Metro Police arrested a man in East Nashville after he allegedly threatened children and officers with a screwdriver.
EAST NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police arrested a man Wednesday after they say he threatened schoolchildren and police officers with a screwdriver.
Police say the man, Howard Cheatham, came up to a group of students waiting for the bus in East Nashville and threatened them with a screwdriver. Later in the day, a police officer spotted Cheatham walking with a screwdriver.
The officer asked the man why he had it and he said he was going to use it to kill cops, according to an arrest affidavit. The officer asked Cheatham to drop the screwdriver. He complied and was arrested.

Cheatham is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, public intoxication and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, along with theft, because he allegedly grabbed something dropped by one of the students when they fled. His bond is set at $23,500.
