A rollover crash ended a helicopter pursuit after 16-year-old fled a traffic stop in Old Hickory.

OLD HICKORY, TN — A pregnant 16-year-old runaway prompted a brief helicopter pursuit after she fled a traffic stop and rammed a squad car.
Metro Police pulled over a white Nissan Altima on East Old Hickory Boulevard in Madison Thursday afternoon, but as the stop was in progress, the driver — who police say is a 16-year-old runaway — threw her car in reverse, ramming the squad car three times before speeding off.
According to Metro Police spokesperson Kristin Mumford, the car headed east towards the Wilson County line and was being pursued by a police helicopter. No ground units were involved in the chase.

Eventually, Hermitage Precinct officers were able to deploy spike strips at the intersection of Shute Lane and Saundersville Road just north of Hermitage Memorial Garden, around six miles from the original traffic stop. The car rolled over and crashed and the driver and two other female occupants were arrested.
Police were not aware that the driver was pregnant, nor that there was a 4-year-old child also in the car. None of the four people in the car were seriously injured, though the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
