Search Continues for East Nashville Man Who Stabbed Girlfriend's Son

A convicted felon allegedly stabbed his girlfriend's son, who was trying to intervene in a domestic assault.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — The search for an East Nashville man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend's son is underway.

Metro Police say James Maurice Kirkwood Sr., 45, stabbed the 30-year-old son of his girlfriend when the man tried to stop Kirkwood from beating his 51-year-old mother.

The victim, who was stabbed in the stomach and chest, is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Kirkwood is charged with attempted criminal homicide. He has previous convictions for cocaine possession, domestic assault, assault, aggravated burglary and theft.
