Suspect Says Crack To Blame For Nine East Nashville Hit-And-Run Accidents
Police finally catch up to Mitchell Vaughn after string of wrecks.
NASHVILLE, TN — Police say a driver blamed crack-smoking for a string of nine car accidents Tuesday.
Police found Mitchell O. Vaughn, 57, on Shelby Avenue with extensive front-end damage to his Mustang. After being put under arrest for his involvement in the spree of hit-and-run wrecks, police found drug paraphernalia, including a crack pipe, in the sports car.
Mitchell told police he "had hit it a little bit," referring to the pipe.

One of the alleged victims said he came out of house after hearing a crash and saw Mitchell in his yard, his car having run through the fence.
Mitchell is charged with three counts of leaving the scene of an accident, three counts of failure to give information/render aid, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI.
