🌱 Local Man Charged In Waffle House Shooting + TN License Plates

Here are the top three stories in Franklin today:
- A 27-year-old Franklin man has been charged with seven counts of attempted murder after an early Sunday morning shooting at a Franklin Waffle House. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the Murfreesboro Road location. According to Franklin police, officers arrived to find multiple shell casings outside the restaurant, but everyone involved in the shooting was gone. Officers were able to locate the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Jeremy Fowler, through witness descriptions and a license plate number. (WKRN News 2)
- On Monday (Feb. 14) morning, the trial began for a woman charged with a Brentwood Police officer's death. According to police, Ashley Kroese was driving drunk when she hit and killed Officer Destin Legieza on Franklin Road in June 2020. Officer Legieza was driving back to police headquarters when his vehicle was struck near Concord Road. Kroese's alcohol content level was alleged to be twice the legal limit at the time of the incident and she was reported to have been driving on the wrong side of the road. (News 4 Nashville)
- Tennessee's brand-new license plate design has many State officials worried that it may have a flaw. Apparently, the Tennessee Department of Revenue has received reports that license plate cameras are having issues reading the new plates, particularly at night. One Shelby County official is urging people to stop buying them. According to the Department of Revenue, 400,000 plates had been issued throughout Tennessee and they expect to replace 5.5 million plates by the end of 2022. (WSMV Nashville)
