Here's what to know (wsmv.com) — Residents in Franklin and across Williamson County are being warned about increasingly sophisticated phone scams where callers pose as law enforcement or court officials and demand immediate payment or personal information. Deputies urge you to hang up, contact agencies directly, and never share financial details or pay under threat of arrest. The sheriff's office stresses that real officers will not demand instant payment over the phone.
   

2. 66 Years of Smoke & Soul: The Men of St. Paul's Annual BBQ Returns (williamsonsource.com) — Franklin families can dig into a 66-year tradition when the Men of St. Paul's host their annual barbecue at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on West Main Street on October 3. You can pre-order whole smoked meats and family packs online through October 1 at noon, or walk up that Saturday afternoon until everything sells out.

Franklin Special School District becomes first in Tennessee to launch scratch kitchen program (wsmv.com) — Students in Franklin Special School District are now eating freshly cooked, scratch-made meals instead of reheated processed food, thanks to a $1.75 million grant and new high-tech kitchen equipment. Cafeteria teams are using tools like the FireX cooker, working with professional chefs, and even offering after-school cooking classes so Franklin third graders can learn to cook at home.
   

4. Brad Pitt Says Life Is Better With Dogs as He Celebrates His Canine Co-Star at Movie Premiere (greatergood.com) — Franklin just hosted the global premiere of Brad Pitt's new survival thriller, "Heart of the Beast," bringing Hollywood attention and a dog-focused red carpet to town. The event highlighted Pitt's love of rescue dogs, featured adoptable pups from Wags and Walks, and kicked off a nationwide dog adoption initiative tied to the film's opening.
