Greater Kingsport YMCA to expand childcare center to meet regional needs (wjhl.com) — Families in Kingsport could soon see 145 new affordable childcare slots as the Greater Kingsport YMCA launches a $6.1 million expansion set to open in fall 2027. The project will add classrooms, a mini gym, and a structured curriculum aimed at preparing children from six weeks to preschool for kindergarten while helping parents stay in the workforce.

2. Kingsport-Bristol Apartment Vacancy Rate Up - CoreData @ donfenley.com (donfenley.com) — Kingsport-Bristol renters are finally seeing a softer apartment market, with vacancies rising to 5.8% and rent growth slowing to about 1% after years of steep increases. The shift is driven by weaker demand, not a surge in new construction, giving tenants more negotiating power while signaling investors to be cautious about income projections.
