Boyd Foundation donates $4 million to fund new theater in East Knoxville (wbir.com) — A major $4 million gift from the Boyd Foundation is helping transform the historic Sterchi-Audigier House on East Magnolia Avenue into River & Rail Theatre's new East Knoxville performing arts center. The renovation will expand seating, add rehearsal and backstage spaces, and support new educational programs, strengthening Knoxville's arts scene and preserving a landmark that was at risk of demolition.
   

2. Lonsdale Patrol Leads to Arrest of Man Carrying Loaded Guns and Drugs (wivk.com) — Knoxville police say a proactive foot patrol in the Lonsdale neighborhood led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man allegedly carrying two loaded guns and nearly 200 grams of marijuana. Officers stopped him near Pascal Drive and Cornelia Cartwright Avenue, and he now faces drug and firearm charges as police continue targeted patrols aimed at improving neighborhood safety.
   

3. UT Board of Trustees Executive Committee to Meet on Sept. 18 (themountainpress.com) — Knoxville residents can watch the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees Executive Committee meeting live on Sept. 18, either online or at a public viewing room in UT Tower on Summit Hill Drive. The session will include a president's report, and anyone needing disability accommodations is urged to contact UT officials by Sept. 16 to ensure access.
   

4. McGhee Tyson Airport warns of long waits after checkpoint goes down (knoxnews.com) — If you're flying out of Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport, be prepared for longer security lines after a mechanical issue shut down one of four checkpoints and officials urged travelers to arrive three hours early. Growing passenger numbers and ongoing repairs are straining the small terminal, though third-party sites still show relatively short waits and tools like the MyTSA app can help you check conditions before heading out.
   

5. A football win and free ramen? It's a great week to be a Vol (knoxnews.com) — UT Knoxville students can snag free Maruchan Flamin' Hot Chicken ramen samples today on the Pedestrian Walkway, along with swag for following the brand on Instagram.
