The project, backed by local firm SEI Waste and private funding, now heads to county, regional, and state review, with supporters arguing it could save taxpayers money and extend landfill life.

Steve Southerland of Morristown opposed, aiming to force pharmacy benefit managers like CVS Caremark to divest from pharmacies they own. CVS is threatening to sue and warns it may close Tennessee locations, while supporters say the measure protects independent pharmacies and curbs conflicts of interest in prescription pricing.
