Bill would give Metro employees yearly anonymous surveys after costly department turmoil (fox17.com) — Nashville Metro employees could soon get yearly anonymous workplace surveys under a bill from Council Member Joy Styles, aimed at spotting problems before they become costly scandals. Prompted by turmoil in the Department of Emergency Communications, the proposal would use a third-party firm, share results with city leaders, and test whether Metro will invest in stronger accountability for its workforce.
2. TN Department of Correction Accepting Applications for 2026 Citizens' Correctional Academy (tntribune.com) — Nashville residents can now apply to join the Tennessee Department of Correction's 2026 Citizens' Correctional Academy, a free six-week evening program in October and November at TDOC locations around the city. Participants will tour facilities and learn how corrections, supervision, and reentry programs work, with applications due by September 15, 2026.
3. Man on Nashville's most wanted list arrested on sex crime charges (tennessean.com subscription) — Nashville police have arrested a 46-year-old man previously listed on the city's most wanted list on multiple sex crime charges involving a teenager he allegedly supervised at a local restaurant. Officers took him into custody off Stewarts Ferry Pike, also seizing six guns, two reported stolen in the Nashville area, with additional weapons charges still pending.
4. United Way of Greater Nashville Expands Across Middle Tennessee With New Name and Strategic Plan (clarksvilleonline.com) — United Way of Greater Nashville is rebranding as United Way of Middle Tennessee, reflecting its expanded role serving Nashville and surrounding counties starting January 1, 2027. The merger with United Way of Sumner County and a new five-year strategic plan aim to bring more volunteers, funding, and coordinated services to neighborhoods across Davidson County and the broader region.
5. This Walkable Tennessee Street Is Lined With Murals, And Seeing Them All Costs Nothing (takingthekids.com) — Nashville residents can enjoy a free mural walk along 12th Avenue South, where the Looking Pretty Music City wall and other colorful artworks line a short, walkable stretch. With no tickets, flexible hours, and dog-friendly sidewalks, it's an easy outing for families, grandparents, or visitors looking to pair street art with nearby patios or a budget-friendly lunch.
