3. Tennessee advocates ask Congress to delay SNAP cost shift (wreg.com) — Nashville-based advocacy groups are urging Congress to delay a looming shift that would force Tennessee to cover most SNAP administrative costs starting Oct. 1, potentially exposing the state to hundreds of millions in penalties. With federal funding to Tennessee already dropping and SNAP participation falling, local residents who rely on food assistance could see tighter eligibility and more strain on state services.
4. Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons pledges donations to Habitat for Humanity for every sack this season (newschannel5.com) — Titans star Jeffery Simmons is turning every sack this season into support for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, pledging $1,980 each time he brings down a quarterback. The final carnival of their administration celebrated eight years of kids logging thousands of volunteer hours statewide, highlighting Nashville's role as host while encouraging local families to keep service at the center of community life.
