Artist and Songwriter Greylan James Celebrates Career Milestone

It’s a feeling he won’t soon forget. Country artist and sought-after songwriter Greylan James has reason to celebrate this weekend as he tops the Mediabase Country chart as a songwriter on Jordan Davis’ “Next Thing You Know.”

“Number 1.. I don’t even know where to start,” Greylan shared on his Instagram. “I’ve been listening to country music on the radio since I was born. Every Sunday afternoon I’d listen to the country countdowns & wonder what it felt like to hear Kix Brooks or Lon Helton call your song the #1 song in America. I moved to Nashville when I was 18. I’d never really written a song with other people. It was pretty terrifying. Now my co-writers have become friends & brothers. Jordan Davis, Josh Osborne, Chase McGill. I’ve heard their songs in my car & head for years. I was pumped to just be writing a song with them, then it felt like a bucket list thing to have that song come out. But waking up & having the Number 1 song with these 3 guys is absolutely a dream come true. They’re legends, & they’re first class dudes that I’m proud to know. We wrote a song that we thought nobody would hear, next thing you know, it’s number damn 1.”

The single, which has captivated listeners for it’s simplistic yet, film-like storyline that captures the essence of life and has over 87 million streams on Spotify, is surely the first of many for Greylan. A writer on many additional cuts like the notable “Happy Does” by Kenny Chesney that peaked at no. 2, Greylan has known since an early age he would be a songwriter and moreso, an artist. Just a few month ago, Greylan had a full circle moment as he sat next to Scott Borchetta, whom he had written a letter to as a young child, and signed his record label deal with Big Machine Label Group. As Greylan said on Instagram, “We just gettin damn started.” His latest releases include, “Undermine” which served as the soundtrack for his US Cellular campagin and “My Future” which has quickly gained over 1.8 million steams on Spotify alone. With new music on the horizon and exciting tours with Old Dominion now and Cole Swindell in the fall this is just the beginning for the talented young artist!
