Children's Dental Health

Are you struggling to get your children to brush their teeth? Have you met our character, Healthy Hippo? Hi, my name is Joni and I'm the creator and founder of Characters of Character NFP. In case you missed it, last month was National Children's Dental Month. While the focus is on dental health for the month, we'd like to focus on dental health and healthy habits for a life time!

As a teacher in preschool I hear so many stories from children, put a smile on my face daily! I also heard from parents, and this mom made me smile, too!

She shared that it has been difficult getting her son to brush his teeth, and as a mom my self, I can attest to that truth behind that struggle. While teaching preschool, naturally I used my characters to reinforce, introduce and model good character. Healthy Hippo is no different. One mom shared the struggle with her son to brush his teeth and after he met Healthy Hippo he related to the importance of this daily task and there was no more struggle!

There was another mom who struggled with her two children eating healthier foods. Again, after introducing Healthy Hippo to the classroom and talking about healthy choices in our foods her two children related to the importance of eating healthy. She shared that at dinner her children pointed out the healthy vegetables they were about to eat!!

Another mom shared that her daughter fell in love with apples because Healthy Hippo absolutely loved eating them. When our children relate to a character or the message, it makes it much easier to teach, discuss and involve our children in healthier habits.
