Country Artist Dee White Celebrates New Single with Trip to the Opry

With the release of his brand new single “Wagon Girl” Dee White is officially back after his acclaimed 2019 album Southern Gentleman. Released two weeks ago, the song ushers in a new era for the Alabama native as it also marks the beginning of much more new music.

Attendees of Nashville’s historic Grand Ole Opry were in for a treat as White played some brand new tunes for the exciting appearance on Sunday night. Joined by Charles Esten, Mandy Barnett, The Cleverlys, William Lee Golden & The Goldens, Jessica Willis Fisher, Dylan Marlowe and Rhonda Vincent, the night proved to be a star studded night of talent. From his hit “Wherever You Go” which has accumulated over 1.6 million streams on Spotify alone to “Wagon Girl,” White’s music has something for everyone. White recently shared the story behind the brand new song.

“We had one session left and were lacking a number,” White shared in a press release. “Tony Brown called me and told me to write something upbeat, a ‘rocker’ he said. The next morning, I went to Sergio Sanchez’s house, and we listened to some Vern Gosdin and Waylon Jennings records. We worked all night writing that song. We never could pin a title for it but when we went into the studio Tony asked me ‘Hey Dee, what about that Wagon Girl?’ Serg and I looked at each other like a light bulb had gone off and we knew that was it. Then I went into the tracking room with the band, and we got the record for it first take. It was like breathing for that bunch.”

For the young artist who has found his inspiration from the likes of Hank Williams and Vern Gosdin, the Opry marks a special place to share his music. Showcasing his natural talent for performing, White has toured throughout the world and opened for the likes of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Molly Tuttle and Marcus King. With brand new music on the way, there is much anticipation for the artist who’s Southern Gentleman was named one of Rolling Stone’s Top 40 Country and Americana albums of 2019.
