Nashville Bike Week: 4 Months Out, Still No Venue

Nashville Bike Week insists that it will find a place to hold its event, even though no one seems to want to host it.

NASHVILLE, TN — It's roughly four months until the first-ever Nashville Bike Week is scheduled to begin, but there's still nowhere for it to go, but organizers insist that's just a bump in the road.

Nashville Bike Week is scheduled for September 14-24. The event, which has been promoted for two years and promised more than 100 bands would perform, was initially set for Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, but the ranch dropped the event because it was not paid a deposit. After months of delays and promises a new venue would be announced, the state's health department rejected NBW's mass-gathering permit application for another ranch in Humphreys County. Last week, NBW said it moved to Opryland with camping at nearby Jellystone Park. Opryland has since pulled out of the event. The Better Business Bureau has listed Nashville Bike Week on its misleading advertising list and warned consumers that one of event's organizers, Mike Axle — whose real name is Mike Leffingwell — has a history of scams, including a federal fraud conviction.

The BBB said its queries to NBW were met with an expletive-riddled response.

"In fact, the company specifically said" F*** O***!!! You're not even a government affiliation shut the f*** up and quit emailing us or I'll get you for harassment," said the BBB on its webpage.
