Nashville Firefighter Hospitalized After Massive Ammonia Leak

Ammonia, so thick it was like a pea-soup fog, sent a Nashville firefighter to the hospital Monday.

NASHVILLE, TN — A massive ammonia leak in South Nashville sent a firefighter to the hospital Monday.

So much ammonia leaked from a 10,000-gallon tank at Cold Storage of Nashville on Hackworth Street that fire crews could not see through the haze.

The firefighter has been treated and released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
