Nashville Kobe Steaks Closing After 40 Years

Kobe Steaks, the long-running hibachi restaurant near Centennial Park, is closing Saturday after 40 years.

NASHVILLE, TN — Kobe Steaks, which brought teppan-yaki-style steak to Nashville 40 years ago and in the pre-It City era was a go-to destination for special occasions from proms to birthdays to anniversaries for many people, is closing July 15.

A note pinned to the front door of the restaurant on 25th Avenue just across from the southwest corner of Centennial Park announced the closure. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Middle Tennessee Patch morning newsletter.)

"After 40 years of service in the Nashville community, Kobe Steaks will close Saturday, July 15," the note reads. "Kobe Steaks opened May 1, 1977 in the Parkview Tower Building and has been operating at the same location since then. We will be forever grateful to our many friends and loyal customers who supported us throughout the years. It has surely been a pleasure and honor to have served you. Thank you for four incredible decades."

Patch reached out to Kobe management for comment.

The first Kobe Steaks opened in Atlanta in 1975; that location closed in 2014. There is also a location in Dallas. It's unclear if that location is closing, as well.
