Nashville Musician Focuses On Mental Health On New Album

The first week of October is Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) led by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and this awareness week coincides with National Depression Screening Day on October 7, and World Mental Health Day on October 10.

Nashville musician Kevin Michael Duggan knows that it's not often talked about, but he wants to talk about it now because he just wrote songs about it for his new album: "It’s 10 songs that really focus on my struggles with mental health which ultimately led to a Bipolar diagnosis. I want people to feel like they’re part of my journey, so maybe they won’t feel as alone on their journey either. So I feel like releasing this music properly also means finding the people who need the songs as much as I needed to write them."

Kevin also says: "I’ve officially launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise money to release my first record. One of the hardest things as an indie artist is putting out your music to as many people as possible and with this money I can do that the way I really think it deserves. I’m so proud of this record and this is the last push to try and release it the right way. With every donation comes a reward from physical copies, merch, early release, days in the studio hanging out and shootin' the bull, one on one writing sessions, live gigs, and personalized songs. Any donation helps and even sharing this if you can’t. I’m not one to ever ask for help like this but in these circumstances this is the best way I can pay you all back for your support and get to do the things I’ve always dreamed of."

Kevin continues: "I’ve teamed up with Edgewater Music Group and working with them we set a target to cover all costs for production, merch, and distribution. We have 25 days to hit our target or else everyone will be refunded and I won’t receive any money.
