For longtime residents like early childhood teacher Cheryl Floyd, these investments mean safer, closer housing near work and a better chance for workers to keep living in Nashville as costs rise.

2. Tennessee lawmaker discusses legislation for Waymo to pay taxes (wkrn.com) — A Nashville state senator is drafting legislation to require Waymo's self-driving cars, now operating across the city with out-of-state tags, to pay Tennessee taxes that help maintain local roads. She says residents feel big companies are reshaping Nashville without contributing fairly and wants any new revenue directed to safer neighborhoods, transit, infrastructure, and childcare outside downtown.
