On Andrew Jackson's Birthday, President Donald Trump To Visit Nashville
The president will hold a rally at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium March 15.

NASHVILLE, TN — President Donald Trump will hold a rally at Municipal Auditorium March 15, according to his campaign.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. with doors to Municipal opening at 3:30. Tickets for the event are available through Trump's campaign website.
Coincidentally or not, Trump's Nashville appearance — the latest in a series of post-inauguration rallies for the president and his first visit to Tennessee since he became president — comes on the 250th anniversary of the birth of Andrew Jackson. Members of Trump's inner circle frequently compare the real estate mogul and reality TV star's rise to that of Old Hickory, who came into national prominence following a surprise victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans and served as a congressman, senator and military governor of Florida prior to his election as president. Trump himself hung a portrait of Jackson in the Oval Office.

Asked at the daily press briefing about the rally, press secretary Sean Spicer referred reporters to Trump's campaign. This would be Trump's second campaign event since taking office January 20.
The Tennessean reports Trump is expected to tour The Hermitage, but officials there would not confirm or deny those plans. U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, a Republican, said he will attend the rally, while, unsurprisingly, U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper, a Democrat, will not.

Activist group We Are Watching Tennessee has already put plans in motion to protest Trump's visit.
Nashville Mayor Megan Barry, who took a surprise phone call from Trump just days before his inauguration, issued a statement emphasizing that Nashville is a "warm and welcoming city."
“Nashville is a warm and welcoming city for all, and that certainly includes President Trump and his supporters who will be attending this event,” she said in a statement. “I hope that during President Trump’s visit to Nashville, he has an opportunity to experience our diverse culture and welcoming values that make our city and our economy so successful. If we have the chance to meet, I would love to follow up on our previous phone conversation about Nashville’s desire to be included in the President’s plan for improving infrastructure across the nation.”
