Rash Of Nashville Shootings Leave 3 Dead, 1 Injured

In less than 90 minutes early Tuesday, three people died in three unconnected shootings across Nashville.

NASHVILLE, TN — Three shootings in the first 90 minutes of Tuesday left three people dead and one injured in Nashville. Details remain scarce, but police do not believe the incidents are connected beyond their unfortunate proximity.

The rash of shootings began just after midnight when a man was shot in the 2600 block of Jefferson Street during what is believed to be an attempted robbery. He was taken to the hospital and should be OK, according to police.

At 12:50 a.m., officers discovered two men shot dead at an apartment in the James Cayce Homes in East Nashville. Brandon Jordan, 22, was lying on the ground near the apartment’s porch, shot in the upper torso. Eric Allen, 38, who lived at the apartment, was found in the doorway with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Jordan died at the scene, while Allen was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Witnesses described the gunman as a black man with shoulder length dreadlocks. He was wearing a ball cap and left the scene in a light-colored four-door sedan.

Just before 1:30 a.m., William Ervin was shot and killed at the Cumberland View public housing complex on 25th Avenue North, where he was visiting family.

Ervin was shot in the chest and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died, according to police.

A possible suspect vehicle — a four-door black sedan with a spoiler — was seen leaving the area and travelling south on 25th Avenue.

Ervin's death brings Nashville's year-to-date homicide total to 35.
