Stray Bullets, Perhaps From Celebratory Gunfire, Injure 2 During Nashville Fireworks
A woman near Hermitage Avenue and a man at Fifth & Broad were hit by stray bullets during Nashville's Independence Day celebration.

NASHVILLE, TN — Police believe guns fired in celebration led to two people being hit by stray bullets downtown during Nashville's Independence Day celebration Tuesday.
A woman on Interstate 40 near the Hermitage Avenue exit was cut by shattered glass when a bullet broke her windshield as the fireworks began. Her injuries were minor and she was not hospitalized. Meanwhile, across downtown at Fifth Avenue and Broadway, a man was shot and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

While no suspects have been identified in either shooting, investigators believe that celebratory gunfire may have been involved in both incidents.
