Characters of Character NFP has created nine animal characters to teach and reinforce vital core values. Meet Manners Monkey, just one of the nine animal characters we share! Recently we made a visit from a grant we received to the Fort Campbel Army Base at Gardner Hills School Age Center, what a thrill! Not only for us but for the children, check out these polite faces below.

Teaching good manners or any character value through a fun and relatable character makes the lesson easier for children to understand and apply. Here’s why Manners Monkey is such a valuable teaching tool:
- Children connect with Manners Monkey as a friendly example who shows how to say “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me” in different situations.
- By following Manners Monkey’s example, kids learn to listen for and use polite words and actions.
- Good manners help children make friends and get along better with others skills that are essential both in and out of school.
- Manners Monkey teaches children how to speak politely and listen carefully, helping them become thoughtful communicators.
- When children use good manners, classrooms and homes become happier, more cooperative places for everyone.
Manners Monkey turns polite behavior and words into something fun! helping children build lifelong habits of being polite. Miss Joni (the creator and founder of Characters of Character NFP) visited a group of children and their parents at a library talking about good manners. We discussed polite words, actions and painted the character on canvas. When I got home I had an email from a mom who shared that on her drive home with her daughter, she wanted to learn polite words in another language. Another mom just thanked us for coming out to talk about good manners and that her son had a nice time.
