New school buildings part of school budget (themountainpress.com) — Seymour families should know that Sevier County’s new three-year school capital plan includes about $1 million for Seymour High School restroom, auditorium, and classroom furniture upgrades, plus a future auxiliary gym. The plan also outlines new schools in Sevierville and Gatlinburg, classroom additions elsewhere, and an end to universal free lunches, with traditional free-and-reduced eligibility returning next year.

Seymour baseball postseason run ends in region tournament (themountainpress.com) — Seymour baseball’s strong postseason run ended just one win shy of a sectional berth after tight region tournament losses to Anderson County at Gibbs High School. The Eagles, who had been on a hot streak and swept District 3-3A titles, battled back with standout pitching and timely hitting but couldn’t convert late scoring chances.
   

3. No injuries reported after cabin fire (themountainpress.com) — Seymour Volunteer Fire Department was among more than a dozen agencies that helped knock down a dramatic cabin fire Monday on Bethlehem Way near Sevierville, where flames were visible for miles. The blaze at the For By Grace II Cabin Resort was contained to a single cabin, and officials say no injuries were reported as investigators work to determine the cause.
   

4. FAA Releases Preliminary Report for Deadly New Market Plane Crash (wivk.com) — A Seymour resident, 49-year-old Edwin Robbins, was one of two people killed in last month’s small-plane crash near New Market, according to a new preliminary report from federal investigators. The FAA outlines the aircraft’s flight path, missed approach, and steep final descent, along with witness accounts of unusual engine sounds just before impact.
