One Arrested In Violent Sexual Assault In Fort Worth

The suspect is currently in a Georgia jail awaiting extradition.

FORT WORTH, TX — A 21-year-old man held in a Georgia jail has been linked to the violent September 2017 sexual assault of a woman in on Trinity Trails path in Fort Worth. Police say the man removed his clothes, rode a bicycle naked and eventually chased and assaulted the woman just after 6 p.m. in the 4800 block of Edwards Ranch Road.

The man, Justin Lacey Ray, was identified as the suspect in the assault, police say. At the time of the crime, he was a homeless man with ties to the Texas Christian University area and west Fort Worth.

He was identified after a caller recognized his features from a police sketch, authorities said. Detectives learned that he was jailed for felony theft in Waycross, Georgia, at the Ware County Jail.

Two detectives traveled to the jail and interviewed Ray, who was then linked to the assault. Police said extradition is pending for the charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Aggravated Assault.

After the woman was assaulted on September 18, 2017, she fought off her attacker and fled to safety in a subdivision from where she called police.
