📰 News we're reading
• 'Make it right': New Texas law regulates solar retailers and salespeople (cw39.com) — A Bastrop homeowner's frustrating solar panel experience is helping spotlight new Texas rules meant to rein in misleading rooftop solar sales. The law now requires solar retailers and salespeople to register with the state, follow clearer contract standards, and face stiff penalties for violations, giving Bastrop residents more leverage if promised savings don't materialize.

• Rouse, Liberty Hill, Georgetown notch big wins as volleyball district play reaches midpoint (statesman.com) — Bastrop volleyball fans can track where their team stands as Hendrickson tops Bastrop in District 23-5A play and McCallum heads to Bastrop for a 7 p.m. matchup Tuesday. The roundup also highlights key wins by Georgetown, Rouse, Liberty Hill, and other Central Texas programs as district races tighten at midseason.

• Texas hunting season brings new rules, expanded doe season for some Texarkana Gazette (texarkanagazette.com) — Hunters in Bastrop County will see a much longer white-tailed doe season this year, with dates extended to November 14–29 under new Texas Parks and Wildlife rules. The state is also rolling out digital licenses, updated ID verification, and revised seasons for deer, turkey, dove, and other game, so Bastrop residents planning hunts should double-check the new timelines.
