Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect Tied to 2014 Burglary

Fingerprint evidence was used to link the man to another burglary last year, police say.

A man arrested for an attempted sexual assault that occurred October 8 at the 400 block of Buttercup Creek Boulevard has been tied to a similar incident from a year ago.

Clarence Alexander Richardson, 27, is now facing another charge of burglary with intent to commit a felony, police said. Police used fingerprint evidence from the Buttercup Creek Boulevard burglary to tie him to the second crime on the 300 block of Cypress Creek Road, which occurred in November 2014.

Richardson’s intentions in the 2014 burglary were unknown until he disclosed to a detective after being arrested in October that they were sexual.

Cedar Park Police Chief Sean Mannix provided this statement when Richardson was arrested:

“I am proud of the Cedar Park Police Department team that investigated this case and appreciative of the Leander Police Department for their assistance in helping us track down Clarence Alexander Richardson. I find this arrest especially timely as we venture into the Halloween weekend when we freely open the doors of our homes to share in the tradition of trick or treating. We are all safer this holiday because this dangerous sexual predator is off of our streets.”
