Leander Man Arrested In Shooting Incident

Brennon Lawrence, 27, arrested after hours-long SWAT standoff in connection to shooting that began as dispute with a neighbor.

LEANDER, TX — After hours of negotiations with a barricaded man overnight, police said Friday morning an arrest overnight in connection to a recent shooting incident has been made.

Just before 1:20 a.m. on Friday, arrived at a home along the 500 block of Emma Rose Trail to serve an arreste warrant for Brennon Lawrence, 27, for deadly conduct, a third-degree felony, police said in a press advisory. Lawrence is a suspect in a case the previous evening involving a dispute between two neighbors that led to shots being fired at the intersection with Mason Street.

Although missing their target, bullets were fired in the direction of the neighbor during the dispute. The suspect then fled on foot after the weapon was used, police previously detailed.

Given that seriousness of the allegations against Lawrence and the possibility that he might be armed, Leander police said they requested help from the Central Texas Regional SWAT Team who were on scene for several hours trying to coax the man out.

After several hours of fruitless negotiations, police said, the entrance to the residence was breached and Lawrence was promptly arrested.

"Several hours after negotiations began, communication broke down between SWAT negotiators and Lawrence," police wrote in the aftermath of the operation. "The SWAT Team then deployed gas inside the residence and Lawrence surrendered to police several minutes later. He will be taken to WCSO Jail," officials said in reference to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office detention facility.
