Man Fatally Shot In Cedar Park Was Active-Duty Airman
Killed Sunday in front of his wife, Austin Robert Burroughs, 22, joined Air Force in 2017 and earned several service medals during stint.

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS — Police this week released more details on the man fatally shot at a Cedar Park apartment complex over the weekend.
The man shot after pulling into the parking lot at the Lakeline Villas Apartments, 2201 S. Lakeline Blvd., last Sunday was Austin Robert Burroughs, 22, an active-duty airman. As Stars and Stripes reported, he was a student stationed at Presidio of Monterey, CA, according to records from the Air Force Personnel Center.
Police responded to a shots fired call on Sunday at around 9:15 p.m. at the apartment complex, finding Burroughs dead from a gunshot wound. Police revealed the victim was shot in front of his wife, who was with him in the car at the time of his death, as he exited the vehicle.

Still at large, the shooter is described as a black man of thin build, and average height, wearing an orange or red colored hoodie and dark sweatpants. The suspect left the scene in a gray or silver colored hatchback, police said. The suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, officials added.

Cedar Park Police Department spokeswoman Alicia Inns said the wife may have lived at the apartment complex at the time of the incident while Burroughs lived at his California duty station.
Stars and Stripes reviewed the victim's military service records, finding Burroughs joined the Air Force on May 30, 2017, and had received the Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Force Basic Military Training Honor Graduate ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal.
