Suspect Who Fired At Cedar Park Police Officers Identified

Joseph Wille Bage 30, has been charged with two counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer after Tuesday incident.

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS — The Cedar Park Police Department on Wednesday identified the suspect accused of firing multiple shots at officers on Tuesday night.

Police identified the suspect as Joseph Wille Bage 30. He has been charged with two counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, officials said.

Police also revised a previous assessment related to injuries sustained by one of the responding officers. During a press briefing on the night of the incident, Assistant Chief Mike Harmon said one of the officers at the scene had suffered a hand injury as he sought evasive action. Police on Wednesday revised the assessment by noting the injured officer was also struck by bullet fragments in the lower back hip area.

The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. at 2904 Wren Circle near the intersection of Little Elm Trail and Chimney Swift Trail. Bage ultimately surrendered peacefully before being taken into custody, Harmon said last night.

At Tuesday night's press briefing, Harmon said the suspect had been threatening to harm himself before police arrived. The assistant chief added that nobody else was in the home at the time of the incident.

No further details were released, and police said their investigation is ongoing.

Patch asked a police spokesperson if Bage whether Bage lives in Cedar Park or was visiting from outside the area, but she declined to provide specifics on his residency: "I’m sorry but at this time we cannot comment or confirm the status of the suspects residence," the police department spokeswoman said.
