Baytown Murder Suspect To Undergo Competency Evaluation
Jesse Dobbs was indicted in February for the stabbing death of 16-year old Kirsten Fritch in November

GALVESTON, TX — A 21-year old man accused of stabbing his 16-year old girlfriend to death in November 2016 may not be competent to stand trial for her murder.
The attorney representing Jesse Dobbs is seeking a competency examination, alleging her client has periods of delusional beliefs.
Dobbs, 21, who was charged with the brutal murder of 16-year old Kirsten Fritch after her body was discovered in Texas City, allegedly admitted to police that he killed her, but also told police it was the fake Kirsten he’d killed, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The search for answers in this case began on Nov. 8, 2016 when Baytown police conducted a welfare check on a home in the 5400 block of Louise Street, and discovered the bodies of Fritch’s mother, 37-year old Cynthia Morris, and Fritch’s sister, Breanna Pavilicek, 13.

Both had been shot to death.
Investigators issued an Amber Alert for Fritch, along with a description of Morris’ missing car shortly after the bodies were found.
Along with that alert, police issued an alert for Dobbs, who was believed to be with Fritch, and was considered a person of interest in the shooting.
On Nov. 9, Dobbs, who witnesses said was soaking wet and shoeless, was arrested in a Texas City bar and charged with resisting arrest.
Two days later, Fritch’s body was found in a wooded area behind the bar where Dobb’s had been arrested.
She’d been stabbed more than 50 times, investigator said.
Dobbs was indicted in February by a Galveston County grand jury for Fritch’s murder, but was never charged with the murders of Fritch’s mother and sister.
He has remained in the Galveston County Jail ever since.
On July 28, Dobbs’ attorney Jyll Rekoff fled a motion for a competency evaluation.
If Dobbs is found incompetent to stand trial, he will be ordered to a state mental facility for treatment, and will remain there until he is deemed competent.
