Bird Causes Power Blackout For Nearly 9,000 In Dickinson
A bird got into the Texas-New Mexico power station, cutting power to thousands in Dickinson, League City and other communities

DICKINSON, TX — Residents in Dickinson, as well as the surrounding communities of Texas City and League City, were without power most of Father’s Day afer a bird got into one o the power stations.
Nearly 9,000 customers with Texas-New Mexico Power were without electricity for more than three hours Sunday afternoon, leaving many hot and frustrated.

In May, more than 12,000 residents were left in the dark for nearly 12 hours after the Texas-New Mexico Power station suffered an equipment malfunction.

Meanwhile, the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management opened cooling stations at Hughes Road Elementary School in Dickinson, KPRC reported.
Power was restored to residents by 6 p.m. Sunday.
