Ex-Texas City Cop Charged With Aggravated Assault

Linnard Crouch was arrested after he used his car as a battering ram to hit his girlfriend's car during a domestic dispute.

TEXAS CITY, TX — A former Texas Police officer who was indicted earlier this month for felony theft charges is facing more legal trouble after he was accused of ramming his girlfriend’s car.

Linnard Crouch, 41, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly rammed his car into the side of his girlfriend’s car.

His 39-year old girlfriend was not hurt, police said.

The incident was reported at about 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 21, and happened at the intersection of 23rd Street and 24th Avenue, according to KPRC report.

Crouch was taken to the Galveston County Jail where he was booked and held in lieu of an $80,000 bond.

Crouch, a former Texas City Police officer, was indicted by a Galveston County Grand Jury on Sept. 13 after he was accused of stealing $2,400 from 74-year old James Mabe, as he was dying in his vehicle in December 2016.

That particular incident was recorded on Crouch’s police body camera, and led to his resignation in January.

Felony theft is considered a state jail felony offense in Texas, and punishable with a possible sentence of six months to two years confinement.
